Billingborough, Lincolnshire - a photo on Flickriver

Billingborough, one of about a dozen English places bearing the name of the billings, a famous tribe of northern invaders, is a large village on the fen edge in south Lincolnshire.
The grand medieval church sits slightly away from the main street on a back lane and has a slender spire soaring to 150 feet.  The tower has pinnacles linked to the spire with flying buttresses  and rises from the west end of the north aisle and like most of the church is 14th century.
The church was heavily restored in the Victorian period with the chancel being rebuilt in 1889-90.
