View with a Roomzzz - a photo on Flickriver

            And so my first shot of 2016 is actually one from a while back. On the building site opposite our hotel I got this shot. You can see into our room at the top! See- there's our microwave! Very exciting. Having watched the workmen going about their jobs in the day, it was fun to be in the same place at night. Me and Michael kept feeling that we might leave our footprints in the concrete, but thankfully it was dry. Phew! 

I love the brickwork exterior of the hotel, now one of only a handful of original structures on this road. The rest is... well, derelict or a building site. Not quite the charm of that lovely brick. It's very charming in an area of tall new-builds.

I actually contacted the hotel chain to offer the photograph. I'm not sure what they would have used it for, but I felt it gave a new and better angle than they were able to get in their promotional material. Unfortunately they were incredibly non-committal. They said they liked it and that they would keep it, that they "may use it in the future". Meh. I never, ever put myself out like that and I think this has put me off trying again in the future.
