McDonald Lake Blue Sky Reflection - a photo on Flickriver

            The pristine glacial waters of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park are so clear that you can see the bottom and, on a good day, so calm, you can see the surrounding mountains and sky reflected on the top of its surface. It swells through a valley carved by erosion and glacial activity and is the largest lake in Glacier National Park. One remarkable feature of this lake is the mixture of colored rocks that layout like a mosaic pattern just below the water surface and along the shoreline. Depending on the amount of oxygen they were exposed to, these iron mineral-laden stones took on various colors, from dark red to maroon and from green to blue.
