In 1926 the Illinois-based Elgin Watch Company (who at the time had general offices in the building) gifted the clock to the Chicago Jeweler's Association. The 5-foot tall bronze sculpture of Father Time carrying a menacing scythe and hourglass represents time's constant one-way movement. Bronze base of the clock weighs 8 tons. The 4 white dials - each 5-feet in diameter - are ringed by 56 red lights and 4 amber lights that light up after dark. Without doubt, the most beautiful clock in the Windy City!
