AE Harkers at Kilnsey Show, Yorkshire Dales in 1935 Morris Commercial Delivery Van

            The location for this postcard is the Kilnsey agricultural show near Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales in 1935.
The man on the left is Cecil Harker, the owner of AE Harkers of Grassington.
The man in the middle of the three people is my father Alf Busfield when he was aged 18, he worked at AE Harkers from Grassington after leaving school and up until he was called up to the Royal Engineers for WWII.
The man on the right is Frank Driver who drove the van around the Grassington area, one of the essential items was paraffin as a significant amount of remote houses had no electricity and relied on paraffin lamps.
AE Harkers was a general store located in the square at Grassington additionally they had a van shown in the photo which used to drive around the villages in the Yorkshire Dales selling paraffin, motor oils and other items.
The van is a Morris Commercial CS11/40F - a type that was built at the Adderley Park (Birmingham) factory between 1933 and 1937.
The building in the background is the Tennant Arms at Kilnsey, the Kilnsey Show is still an annual event and well worth visiting.
