            In the song, "Hearts of Olden Glory", the band Runrig sing about how "the colours of Scotland keep you young inside" this is a perfect example of that lyric. 
Scotland is a nation of extremes yet of moderation too, it is literally a living contradiction to itself. The weather system may well be one of the most moderate climates in the world but the extremes from dark gloomy and stormy skies to tranquil settings at little inshore freshwater lochs like this one can be dramatic and it can take as little as ten minutes for the weather to change from one to the other.
