The Armenian in DJ mode. Dundas West

            I found Shaunt in a booth on Dundas Street. He was playing unusual music and enjoyed his own show immensely. Despite his very recognizable schnozzle, 99.9% of people who walked by, didn't know who he is.  Shaunt Raffi is a club owner together with his brother Raz. Both love music and in few short years they opened few clubs, which introduced lots of new music on Toronto scene. It started with Antikka Coffee and Record shop. Later 'Oud &Fuzz', which started as a music venue in 2019, but almost closed down after Pandemania hit. It was saved by transforming to an Armenian restaurant. The music was played on back patio even in Pandemic winters. In 2022 the brothers opened a pure music venue 'Tapestry' and ran both places for a while. Both brothers are musicians, both playing several instruments. Shaunt wanted to be politician in his formative years. He was also very much involved in Armenian diaspora. In the end, the music won; music with edge and freshness. Just like the tunes, he was dancing to and playing basically for himself on that night. 'Tapestry' became kind of word-of-the-mouth spot for the hip In-Crowd, but they still let me in occasionally.
