Its all in the detail - a photo on Flickriver

            I have two Helios 44M lenses, one which is a very early model from the early 70s, and the other, this one, which was the last model to be produced as late as '93. They are very similar in construction and look. My older 44M gives that distinct Helios 'swirling bubbles' bokeh effect. By the time they got to the 44M-7 model, the last model to be produced (I think) and the one I used for this image, the bokeh effect had been softened by a significant margin, as can be seen here. For a lens that can be had here in the UK for £20 if bought on an old Zenit camera (check eBay, there's loads of them) and with the addition of a good quality adapter for about the same price, it really can produce pleasing results. This is shot on my Olympus EM1-Mk2 micro 4/3s system, which gives an effective full frame focal length of 116mm.
