Dalt Vila desde el baluarte de Santa Lucia

            En los alrededores de este baluarte vivían los picapedreros en la conocida como “colonia de Santa Lucía.” El polvorín se construyó justo sobre el baluarte. Cuenta la leyenda que en 1730 un rayo cayó sobre el polvorín estallando por los aires. Un año que se denominó como “el año del gran trueno” ya que se oyó en toda la isla. Quintales de pólvora ardieron provocando numerosas muertes y dañando los edificios cercanos como las bóvedas de Santo Domingo, que tuvieron que ser reconstruidas. Hoy este polvorín se destina a usos culturales. Si nos fijamos veremos que la punta de este baluarte parece la proa de un barco.
