New species # 16: The Bananaguit - a photo on Flickriver

            While trying to identify three other species, I ran across this fellow and knew that I had captured one. Very small with the hops of a bare foot seven-year-old when the floor becomes lava…a game we play with the grandkids. 

This shot was captured in the 2/10ths of a second that it landed and disappeared back into the forest.

Taken somewhere between La Paz and next hotel in LaFortuna, Costa Rica on 10 January, 2024.
