The Glory Light Show over CadesCove - 3321

After long time of no rain this dry Fall in the Great Smoky Mountains, a long awaited thunderstorm finally arrived in late October with several hours of showers in the Cades Cove area. We gladly spent much of the day in a nearby creek for waterfall photography. It was just before sunset that we arrived at the Cades Cove. The rain stopped and the sky began to turn on fire. It was certainly the most epic sunset lighting we have ever experienced in the area. The lighting show lasted just about twenty minutes. This was taken right around the Sun was setting. The pleasing wet air, burning clouds in the sky, and rising mists over the distant ridges lit by the golden light together characterized this rare epic after-storm show.
