"If Corporations are People..." - Five Years Ago: Occupy Chicago in Color - TIFF - 010

            One of my favorite signs: "If corporations are people, why aren't they in Jail?"

Now, one day after the U.S. presidential election of 2016, we'll have to come to terms with having a billionaire in the White House. Yes, the One Percent will be running the whole show...

So who's to blame for this debacle? Not Trump. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. Not the American people. No, this election was Hillary Clinton's to lose, and the blame should rest squarely on the shoulders of the Clintons and the DNC.

It was the greed of the Clintons, their scheming and scamming behind the scenes, the Wall Street speeches, and their rigging of the primary election process to deprive Bernie Sanders of a fair chance, that lost her what little trust the American people still had in her. 

Many of us who did cast a vote for Hillary, did so while fighting a very strong gag-reflex. We were willing to suspend  our better judgment in order to prevent the gloom and doom that a Trump administration will surely bring. 

No need to worry, Bill and Hillary will be just fine. They can continue to pursue their own dream of joining the One Percent, without the pretense of self-sacrifice. The American people, on the other hand,  will be left holding the bag, at the mercy of whichever version of Donald J. Trump will take office next January...
