Engine 23 Relaying to Engine 19 - Cincinnati OH

Engine 23 has a 2 1/2" supply line charged on their 1970 American LaFrance that is going to Engine 19's 1972 Seagrave pumper. This scene is at a 2-alarm fire at 751 East McMillan Street in Walnut Hills. The building behind the 23's is the former quarters of Cincinnati Engine Co. 16 which had been disbanded.

This fire was in a large 2-story frame building and occurred on March 11, 1979. Anyway, I don't know what things are like where you live, but this scene is long gone in the Cincinnati area. It's been years since I've seen a 2 1/2" supply line being used.

The rear of Squad 52's 1969 Seagrave/Marion rescue can be seen. Parked next to the 52's is MAC 1 (Mobile Air Compressor) which is a 1971 GMC Step Van. Squad 52 staffed MAC 1 and responded to all multiple alarm fires with both pieces.

Notice the old neon sign for the Schwartz Shoe Store down the block. I wish I had taken photos of neon signs and wall signs back then!
