Effet de masse

            Varanasi (Inde) - Si on veut accentuer le sentiment de foule, rien de mieux qu’une longe focale. En gros, à partir de 200 mm. Mais en photo, rien n’est figé ; si je peux m’exprimer ainsi.
Pour limiter le flou de l’arrière-plan, aussi appelé « bokeh », au profit d’une netteté sur tout le champ de l’image, optez pour une ouverture réduite : entre f : 11 à f : 16. A partit de f : 22 on perd en qualité optique, pour faire simple. 
Pour des considérations optiques que je ne vais pas développer ici, afin d’optimiser la netteté, je vous conseille de faire la mise au point à peu près au milieu de la scène. Pour cette photo le point a été fait sur la partie supérieure du parasol central (bleu et blanc). Les personnes au premier plan (de dos dans le bateau) sont nettes. Le fond de la photo également. Démonstration par l’image.
C’était ma minute didactique, vulgarisée à l’extrême.

Varanasi (India) - If you want to accentuate the feeling of crowds, nothing better than a focal length lens. Basically, from 200 mm.
To limit the blur of the background also called "bokeh", for the benefit of sharpness over the entire field of the image, opt for a reduced aperture: between f: 11 to f: 16. From f : 22 we lose optical quality, to put it simply.
For optical considerations that I will not go into here, in order to optimize sharpness, I recommend that you focus around the middle of the scene. For this photo the point was made on the upper part of the central parasol (blue and white). People in the foreground (from behind in the boat) are sharp. The background of the photo also.
