Japanese maple in autum dress - a photo on Flickriver

            Acer shirasawanum "Aureum", my favorite Japanese maple, in its beautiful orange and pinkish autumn color. The blue needles from a Pinus parviflorus "Schoons bonsai" make a perfect contrast.

From my garden in Trondheim, central Norway. The trees has survived several winters, despite temperatures down to - 20 deg C and possibly lower. However, the tree is shielded from wind, and has only a few hours direct sunlight every day.
