Flood damages historic Westport Covered Bridge

            On June 15, 2021 I posted an image of this bridge,,,calling it my favorite covered bridge.  On Friday, June 18, 2021, a  torrential downpour flooded the Sand Creek basin.  A large tree damaged both sides of the bridge.  I found out about the damage while eating lunch yesterday in Greensburg, Indiana, after photographing three covered bridges 40 miles north of the Westport bridge. I headed south and this is is the damaged south side of the bridge.  Highway engineers believe the structure is sound and the sides can be repaired....again, timing is everything....
