Crêpe ginger, Crepe Ginger, cane-reed, Malay ginger, spiral flag, spiral ginger, wild ginger is a species of flowering plants in the genus Cheilocostus. It is native to southeast Asia and surrounding regions, from India to China to Queensland, It is especially common on the Greater Sunda Islands in Indonesia. It is also reportedly naturalized in Mauritius, Réunion, Fiji, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Belize,  Melanesia, Micronesia, and the West Indies. It is widely cultivated as an ornamental.

Cheilocostus speciosus es una planta perteneciente a la familia botánica Costaceae y es ampliamente cultivada como planta ornamental por la belleza de sus hojas y flores.  Conocida como Sombrero de Dama, caña agria, crepe ginger.  Esta especie se caracteriza por ser una hierba de gran porte que puede alcanzar más de dos metros de altura en su hábitat natural. Los tallos son algo finos con un diámetro entre 3-5 cm. Las raíces crecen formando rizomas horizontales y ramificados de los que surgirán plantas hijas con el tiempo.

No Brasil, ginger espiralada, cana-do-brejo, gengibre.  É uma planta conhecida também por suas grandes propriedades medicinais.  

Crêpe au gingembre est une espèce de plantes fleurissantes du genre Cheilocostus. Il est originaire de l'Asie du sud-est et des régions environnantes, de l'Inde à la Chine au Queensland, il est particulièrement commun sur les îles de la grande sonde en Indonésie. Il est également naturalisé à Maurice, réunion, Fidji, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Belize, Mélanésie, Micronésie, et les Antilles. Il est largement cultivé comme un ornement.

Der Ingwer ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Cheilocostus. Es ist native in Südostasien und umliegenden Regionen, von Indien bis China nach Queensland, ist es besonders häufig auf den großen Sunda-Inseln in Indonesien. Es wird auch berichtet, dass auf Mauritius, Réunion, Fidschi, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Belize, Melanesien, Mikronesien und die Antillen. Es wird weithin als ornament kultiviert.

Crêpe gember is een geslacht van bloeiende planten uit het geslacht Cheilocostus. Het is inheems in Zuidoost-Azië en de omliggende regio's, van India tot China naar Queensland, het is bijzonder gebruikelijk op de grote Sunda-eilanden in Indonesië. Het is naar verluidt ook genaturaliseerd in Mauritius, Réunion, Fiji, Hawaï, Costa Rica, Belize,
Melanesië, Micronesië, en West-Indië. Het is wijd gekweekt als een versiering.
