The old man and the sea. A Weymouth character

This amazing fellow is Ken and he is a real Weymouth character who I shot last year when I was down there for the day. He told me (then) that he would be 91 the next week, and is looking forward to getting a telegram from the King when he reaches 100.  Ken puts his health and youthfulness down to his lifestyle out in the sea air and not drinking or smoking. He did say he doesn't have any friends any more as they are all now dead which is very sad... although I am sure plenty of people in Weymouth love him.

He said he was born and raised in Weymouth and has been working on the harbourside for 30 years. Before that, he was first mate on a boat (he was wearing a First Mate cap). He said Weymouth has changed a lot over the years, even though Weymouth's appeal for many is that it is relatively unspoilt.

He was holding a knot that he is apparently famous for doing. He did one in front of me very deftly. He told me some of the history of Weymouth, including that it was where the plague rats apparently disembarked back in the Middle Ages. I could have chatted with him for ages as he was full of interesting stories.

He also told me he was on the TV show Great Railway Journeys - when they came to Weymouth they interviewed him - and he has also been a film extra in things like Tom Jones (as in the story not the singer).

I refuse to edit out his stray facial hairs in the wrong places and age spots as they are part of him and he is beautiful just as he is. He looks incredible for 91 anyway "warts" and all.
