Assieme alla vicina spiaggia di Sansone, la spiaggia della Sorgente è considerata una delle più belle dell'Isola d'Elba, isola che è ubicata in provincia di Livorno e spartiacque (se così si può dire) tra il mare Tirreno e il mar Ligure di fronte alla splendida costa centro settentrionale della Toscana. Come molti sanno, l'Isola d'Elba è la terza isola italiana (dopo Sicilia e Sardegna) quanto a grandezza avendo una superficie di 224 Kmq e una popolazione totale di 31.904 abitanti; essa appartiene all'Arcipelago Toscano fronteggiando la Toscana ad una distanza di circa 5 miglia marine. L'Isola d'Elba è raggiungibile da Piombino (città portuale che la fronteggia) in circa 30/45 minuti di navigazione con traghetti di varie compagnie marittime. Arrivare in questa spiaggia è assai facile in quanto è una delle spiagge semi urbane di Portoferraio, il porto marittimo più grande dell'isola. Queste spiagge urbane esposte a nord dell'isola, hanno la caratteristica di avere spiagge bianche di ciottoli o rena per la presenza di eurite, un porfido quarzifero a struttura microcristallina e frattura scheggiosa che nell'Isola d'Elba è tormalinifero. La spiaggia è piuttosto piccola, circa 70 metri, ma è incastonata tra falesie bianche a picco sul mare di fronte a un mare cristallino con molte sfumature del blu il quale, con il soffiare del vento di scirocco, viene esaltato nei colori. La presenza di moltissimi pesci che arrivano fino alla riva testimonia la purezza e l'assenza di inquinamento del mare prospiciente la spiaggia. Nelle vicinanze c'è la spiaggia di Sansone, che possiede identiche caratteristiche della spiaggia della Sorgente e con un faraglione che le divide mostrando un paesaggio marino suggestivo ed incantevole. Per raggiungere questa spiaggia si parte da Portoferraio e, prendendo la strada provinciale Portoferraio - Enfola, dopo 3,5 Km. si trovano chiare indicazioni per parcheggiare nei pressi e raggiungerla a piedi; non esistono servizi sulla spiaggia ma il luogo è di una bellezza incomparabile tanto a terra quanto a mare.

Together with the nearby Sansone beach, the Sorgente beach is considered one of the most beautiful on the Island of Elba, an island located in the province of Livorno and a watershed (if we can say so) between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian Sea of facing the splendid central northern coast of Tuscany. As many know, the Island of Elba is the third largest Italian island (after Sicily and Sardinia) in terms of size, having a surface area of 224 square kilometers and a total population of 31,904 inhabitants; it belongs to the Tuscan Archipelago facing Tuscany at a distance of approximately 5 nautical miles. The Island of Elba can be reached from Piombino (the port city facing it) in approximately 30/45 minutes of navigation with ferries from various shipping companies. Getting to this beach is very easy as it is one of the semi-urban beaches of Portoferraio, the largest sea port on the island. These urban beaches facing north of the island have the characteristic of having white beaches of pebbles or sand due to the presence of euryte, a quartz porphyry with a microcrystalline structure and splintered fracture which on the Island of Elba is tourmaliniferous. The beach is quite small, about 70 metres, but it is set between white cliffs overlooking the sea facing a crystalline sea with many shades of blue which, with the blowing of the sirocco wind, is enhanced in colours. The presence of many fish that reach the shore testifies to the purity and absence of pollution of the sea facing the beach. Nearby there is the Sansone beach, which has identical characteristics of the Sorgente beach and with a stack that divides them showing a suggestive and enchanting seascape. To reach this beach, start from Portoferraio and, taking the provincial road Portoferraio - Enfola, after 3.5 km you will find clear indications to park nearby and reach it on foot; there are no services on the beach but the place is of incomparable beauty both on land and at sea.
