L'immagine della Toscana, terra nella quale vivo, è quella di una campagna disegnata sui quadri del Rinascimento italiano: un cipresso, una campagna ordinata e piccole case di campagna sparse qua e là. Tutto questo ha origine dal medioevo quando gli agricoltori usavano lavorare la terra dandone una immagine di bellezza e sfruttando le rotondità delle colline toscane con la dolcezza del paesaggio circostante.
Tuttavia le Crete Senesi appaiono in alcune zone come un paesaggio lunare, spoglio e di colore grigiastro a causa della presenza di "biancane", elementi geografici di colore bianco e formati da crete sui quali non crescono piante.
Le Crete Senesi hanno avuto una storia risalente agli Etruschi, popolo operoso e attivo scomparso nel nulla successivamente il dominio romano. Le Crete sono un luogo di bellezza paesaggistica, di borghi medievali ancora vivi, di gastronomia, di ottimi vini e prodotti della pastorizia.

Crete Senesi on the country road to Monte Sante Marie

The image of Tuscany, the land in which I live, is that of a countryside drawn on Italian Renaissance paintings: a cypress, an orderly countryside and small country houses scattered here and there. All this originates from the Middle Ages when farmers used to work the land giving it an image of beauty and taking advantage of the roundness of the Tuscan hills with the sweetness of the surrounding landscape.
However, the Crete Senesi appear in some areas as a lunar landscape, bare and greyish in color due to the presence of "biancane", geographical elements of white color and formed by clays on which no plants grow.
The Crete Senesi have had a history dating back to the Etruscans, an industrious and active people who disappeared into thin air after the Roman domination. The Crete are a place of scenic beauty, of still alive medieval villages, gastronomy, excellent wines and sheep-farming products.
