1971 Campaign

            1970 Porsche 917 LH (chassis 917-042)
042 was part of the Salzburg squad at Le Mans 1970. With Vic Elford and Kurt Ahrens the white with red accents Longtail started from the pole position and led the early staged of the race before an engine failure ended its race.
Back in 1971 with the Martini Racing Team and a new low drag body, it qualified 2nd with Gérard Larrousse and Vic Elford at the helm. Again the race was ended by an engine failure.

1971 Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig" (chassis 917-20-001)
Developed in an attempt to combine strenghts from both the short tail and long tail 917s, the 917/20 was fielded by the Martini Racing Team and the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans with Reinhod Joest and Willi Khausen at the helm. The car was so ugly that Count Rossi (owner of Martini & Rossi) refused it to wear the Martini name. Anatole Lapine from Porsche subsequently developed this legendary art car livery.
This unique car did not finish the race.
