Sileby_SB 1975_10

            Sileby Signal Box seen here on the 10th September 1975. One of the few Leicestershire mechanical signal boxes still in existence in the mid 1970’s that I did not visit, only managing this trackside “walk by”. Information on this box also seems scarce. Built by the Midland Railway to their standard Type 2b design which would date it from 1892 -1901. The box survived until closed on the 11th April 1987
