Peony Roses

            Today I've shown you some of the first photos taken with my recently converted Lumix compact camera. Since I wasn't really using it for anything else, I thought I may as well have it converted to monochromatic IR.

It's a lot of fun, and as I said in the previous shot the limitations it provides allows us to focus on compositional matters, light and shade and so on. It will be even more exciting to compare these images to the first results I get from my Ranica pinhole camera, but that will have to wait a little longer.

This is our peony rose bush in bloom, and the colours of the flowers are almost as vibrant a pink as this colourised version.

I would like to try an IR filter on my Nikon D850, but I have had mixed reports of its effectiveness. You see the D850 is very good at filtering out extraneous wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. So from what I understand the IR effect is not as good on the D850 because that camera is so good at what it does. Anyway, any D850 owners out there who have used an IR filter successfully, please contact me. I'd appreciate a report on how you've found it.
