A Montagu's Harrier male perched in the grassland

            This was one cool bird - we entered the grasslands through a wrong way, a terribly rocky road and there it was - perched on that stump peacefully. As we drove close, it was cool and let us spend sometime with it. The light was perfect and we had some excellent shots full frame and too close. It flew off the other way, but then we had a lot of time to admire his beauty from up close.

This is a migratory raptor from Central Asia, Eastern Europe that winters in India. They are quite similar to the Pallid Harriers and both these birds are often seen together and even hunt in the same habitat - grasslands. The prey base is also quite similar.
