I went to the beach with a simple goal: find a big piece of bull kelp to add as a second exposure on the final frame of the test roll in the Rollei.  Failed.  Didn’t find any like I wanted, ended up cobbling together a bunch of smaller junk and shooting it after the light was no longer right for it, and ruined a frame that would have been fine if just left as a single exposure.  Then as I was leaving… there it was, just lying near the beach entrance, draped across the sand, flaunting its too-late arrival.  But I shot it on digital, found I liked it as a square thanks to the Rollei influence, and it might be my favorite beach shot this year.
