One of the Siskiyou highlights - a photo on Flickriver

            On a late summer Saturday afternoon, a westbound train attacks the 3%+ grade on Southern Pacific's Siskiyou Line between Weed and Black Butte, California. This image doesn't begin to convey the intense sensation of watching eight big EMD SD's lug 7,000 tons of train up to the mainline. There were several spots along the series of curves in this area where the road power and mid-train helpers created a turbocharged roar in natural stereo surround sound. 

How sweet it was.
