A day at Central Park (New York). - a photo on Flickriver

            Cuarto día del viaje a New York. Un domingo en Central Park.
Por más extenso que queráis hacer vuestro viaje a esta ciudad, siempre os parecerá insuficiente, en mi caso fueron nueve días (ocho noches), que como comento, se nos hicieron muy cortos. De todos esos días ya tenía planificado que uno lo pasaría íntegramente en Central Park y que sería en domingo, uno de los días en que la actividad es máxima en este parque.
Para que nos hagamos una idea de la extensión del mismo os diré que tiene forma rectangular, de unos 800 metros de ancho por cuatro kilómetros de largo, unas 340 hectáreas (el triple que el Parque del Retiro de Madrid).
Aquí uno vive un sin fin de sensaciones, es un espectáculo en sí mismo, como asistir a una obra de teatro callejero. En este remanso de paz y pulmón de New York podremos observar todo tipo de sujetos, familias y residentes que vienen a pasear, jugar o simplemente a hacer ejercicio o a comer, veremos todo tipo de personas que tratan de ganarse la vida deleitándonos con sus habilidades artísticas o de cualquier tipo imaginable, fotógrafos profesionales haciendo reportajes de boda, de naturaleza, social, o simples aficionados como yo, que disfrutan de un día sin igual en un lugar único.
Aproximadamente recorrimos el 80% de la superficie total del Parque, comenzando la visita desde el sur y llegando a rodear el "lago grande" o "Jackie Onassis Reservoir" por el paseo "Alberto Arroyo Running Track".
Os iré mostrando diversas instantáneas que encuentro muy interesantes y que espero resuma con acierto lo que significa pasar todo un día en este mágico lugar.
Como os decía, mucha gente no viene a este parque a pasear o disfrutar del mismo, sino más bien a ganarse la vida. En la foto principal comparto esta instantánea de un "pompero" realizando una espectacular y colorida pompa.
