Die Erdfunkstelle Fuchsstadt dient als Bodenstation für die Kommunikation mit Nachrichtensatelliten und ermöglicht unter anderem satellitengestützte Telefongespräche, Internet-Verbindungen und Fernsehsendungen. Zurzeit besteht die Erdfunkstelle aus mehr als 50 Parabolantennen, darunter zwei Antennen vom Typ A mit einem Durchmesser von 32 Metern und etwa 25 weitere mit jeweils mehr als 9,3 Metern. Die Erdfunkstelle ist damit eine der größten Satelliten-Kommunikationsanlagen der Welt.

The earth station Fuchsstadt serves as a ground station for communication with news satellites and enables, among other things, satellite-supported telephone calls, internet connections and television broadcasts. At the moment, the earth station consists of more than 50 parabolic antennas, including two type A antennas with a diameter of 32 meters and about 25 other antennas with a diameter of more than 9.3 meters each. The earth station is thus one of the largest satellite communication systems in the world.
