SHTAGR 0046 - a photo on Flickriver

SHTAGR 0046

            Sharp-tailed Grouse, Tympanuchus phasianellus columbianus, 43 cm. / 17 in.  UNCOMMON and local in grassy habitat where prairie and woodland mix, in open grasslands near patches of trees, such as aspen parklands.  The "sharp tail" vibrates side-to-side during the display so I tried to slow the action pre-sunrise.

Displaying to a female on the Seneca Coal Mine Lek near Hayden, Routt County, Colorado, USA.
