Former Temple Beth-El - a photo on Flickriver

            Founded in 1871, Temple Beth-El (formerly known as Rodef Sholom) moved to 2124 W. Crystal St. in 1902 and remained here until moving to Logan Square in 1925. The Original New Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church was the building’s last occupant. The building was sold for $1,751,122 in March 2018, and a demolition permit was issued for the property on Aug. 20, 2018. Two condominium buildings will be constructed on the property.

The Hebrrew inscription above one of the two entrances is from the verse in Psalms: "Open for me the gates of righteousness.  I will enter them and praise the Lord."  The partially eroded inscription above the other door is in English.
