The Derelict Overseas Highway - a photo on Flickriver

            Spanish Harbor Key, Florida (just SE of Big Pine Key)

From my annual spring trip to Florida, this one in 2014. The highway seen here has been unused for decades, replaced by a more modern version. It was originally a railroad bridge that first connected the Keys, built by Henery Flagler (finished in 1912). A hurricane destroyed much of the infrastructure in 1935 and the railroad was financially unable to repair it and so sold it to the state of Florida who then used much of what was left to build a highway. By 1980, all of the old bridges were replaced, but some sections, like this one, remain--steadily moving toward rubble.
