VENEZIA. FONDAMENTA DEL TRAGHETO. - a photo on Flickriver

Nella zona di Rialto esiste la Fondamenta del Tragheto del Buso dove anticamente vi era un servizio di traghetto. Vi sono due spiegazioni per questo nome, la prima perché il luogo è talmente ristretto che può essere definito un buco. La seconda dal fatto che con questo traghetto, rientravano molte prostitute a Venezia. Questo perché tempo prima (agli inizi del quattrocento) grazie ad una ordinanza, per contenere e limitare la prostituzione da parte della Serenissima, molte prostitute furono espulse. I veneziani dovettero però ben presto ricredersi in quando a causa dell’assenza di queste “signore compiacenti ”, si verificarono gravi disordini e per un breve periodo aumentò la sodomia.

In the Rialto area there is the Foundation's Ferry Buso where once there was a ferry service.
