Sciurus vulgaris

            In a small area of this park, where a few walnut trees grow, lives a group of red squirrels that have won the affection of those of us who walk here. They spend the day running around on the ground and jumping among the branches, always active, always curious.

Now, with the arrival of the first nuts, they take advantage of the opportunity to feast. As they are used to people, they are quite trusting, and if you are patient, you can get close enough to take a photo. And if they are busy eating... even better!

An interesting fact about red squirrels is that their tails are usually as long as their bodies, or even a little longer. They also have four toes on their front paws and five on their hind paws.

We sometimes think that to see interesting animals we have to go far away, to remote forests or nature reserves. But this scene shows that this is not always the case. We just need to look carefully at what is around us, because nature is also hidden in the most everyday places. We just need to know how to observe.
