Porte Saint-James (Grosse Cloche) - a photo on Flickriver

            Es ist eines der wenigen zivilen Monumente, die in Bordeaux aus dem Mittelalter erhalten blieben. Es wurde im 15.Jahrundert auf den Resten des alten Saint-Éloy-Tors (13.Jahrhundert) errichtet.
Die heutige Glocke wurde im Juni 1775 vom Gießer Turmeau gegossen und wiegt 7.800kg, ist zwei Meter hoch und zwei Metern im Durchmesser.

It is one of the few civic monuments preserved from the Middle Ages in Bordeaux. It was built in the 15th century on the remains of the old Saint-Éloy Gate (13th century).
The current bell was cast in June 1775 by the founder Turmeau and weighs 7,800 kg, is two meters high and two meters in diameter.
