            At about 700m (2,300ft) having climbed the first part of the steep Watkin Path up Cwm Llan, Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd, North West Wales the Cwm (Valley in English) flattens out before the final steep ridge climb to Snowdon's Summit.

Here, alongside a steam, you find the abandoned upland farm of Plas Cwm Llan and a series of slate fences and enclosures made from slate slabs stuck in the ground with the tops attached together with wound wire.

The now dilapidated farmhouse also used to be the residence 
of the South Snowdon Quarry Manager before its closure.

During the Second World War its dilapidated condition worsened by Commandos using it and the surrounding slate fences for target practice when training. Indeed both the building and slate fences are riddled with bullet holes. 

Pictured, far right, is the distant peak of Yr Aran 747m (2,450ft).
