The Secret Waterfall - a photo on Flickriver

            Not so much a secret, but difficult to find.
Before our trip I'd already seen images from here and worked out roughly where it was. Finding it was a little more tricky.

It can be found off the Laguna de los Tres hiking trail but it is not marked, it can't be seen or heard from the trail so I was glad that my first attempt at wandering off through the scrub was at the right location.
Although the Laguna de los Tres trail was busy there was no-one here so we had the place to ourselves, another great picnic spot.

This was to be my epic shot from the trip but unfortunately I didn't book the weather and so the wonderful FitzRoy mountain is lost in the clouds. This was our best day so we were grateful to see the mountains.

The mountain that can be seen is the edge of the peak Aguja (Needle) Poincenot. It was named after the French climber Jacques Poincenot who drowned in Rio FitzRoy in 1952 at the start of the first expedition to actually climb FitzRoy.

I shot a number of exposures at different shutter speeds but I liked the 1 second shot best. Some of the bushes are a little blurry but hey ho, it's Patagonia and it was blowing a hoolie.
