Deze vogel zit namelijk het liefst hoog in de bomen en dat terwijl het niet zo’n goede vlieger is. 

Toerako’s hebben een bijzondere bouw van de voeten. Zij hebben namelijk een vierde teen. Deze kunnen ze naar voor en achter draaien en komt dus goed van pas bij het klimmen en klauteren. De toerako heeft hierdoor op iedere boomstam goed grip en hopt zo eenvoudig van tak naar tak.

De vogel is merendeels glanzend violetkleurig en afhankelijk van de lichtval kan de vogel heel donker of tegen het groen aan lijken.

This bird prefers to sit high in the trees, even though it is not a very good flyer.

Turacos have a special foot structure. They have a fourth toe. They can turn this forward and backward, so it comes in handy when climbing and scrambling. This gives the turaco a good grip on every tree trunk and easily hops from branch to branch.

The bird is mostly a shiny violet color and depending on the light, the bird can appear very dark or almost green.
