West End, bright winter's day - a photo on Flickriver

            Saint George's church with its very tall steeple - since the height of buildings in and around the New Town and Old Town is limited so they will not disrupt Edinburgh's historic skyline or obstruct views of the Castle this tower remains a major landmark on the skyline, not overshadowed by tower blocks as happens to many an old spire in other cities and this remains quite clear on the skyline, you can see it from a good distance away over the top of the other buildings. This is in the West End of the Georgian-era New Town.
