Urban Coyote in Vancouver BC 02Jun2014

            And now for a photo that will surely not be picked up by Explore.

While on a walk, I encountered this coyote in the middle of a Vancouver neighbourhood (around W 43rd and Churchill). The animal walked on 3 legs, favouring one of its hind legs: likely it had been hit by a motor vehicle. Other people had found the canine and were feeding the animal. Not the smartest move. The coyote looked somewhat emaciated, and had a ragged coat, perhaps due to shedding its winter fur. Otherwise, it seemed ok despite the clear leg injury.

On many of my walks, I travel light in terms of camera gear and only had my EF 35mm 1:2 lens. I mainly did sky shots this day. I did not want to get any closer to the coyote than I did to capture this frame. The posted image is derived from a strong crop.
