the latest twist in the saga - a photo on Flickriver

Serangan Island, Bali
Mangrove is an important thing for ecosystem, as place for sea creatures to seek food and protection, for protection from sea erosion and as filter of mud from the river.
It existence is endangered, as with several other tourist-oriented mega-projects on Bali, the land reclamation and destruction of the mangrove forest around the island has significantly changed the tidal patterns and worsened erosion.
The nature resources are world heritage to our descendants but for other people did not hold any import for them and no strategy value. Ironically, part of the local government agree with the assumption. The severed mangrove for the intention clearly resulted the decrease of mangrove 's function as the coastal ecosystem balances support. Especially with recent situation, the mangrove is needed as coast protection from the tsunami.
