Dead Land Turtle - a photo on Flickriver

Dead Land Turtle

            Photographed near sand dunes located on the North Beach (northern most natural beach)  of Sandy Hook National Seashore, New Jersey.

*No live creatures found on this visit. I did come across this expired land turtle. It obviously must have fallen into the ocean somewhere at sometime. I actually came across 3 of these turtles within approximately a 100 yard span. If you look at my "Computer Monitor Update #3", you will see a shell near the monitor itself. That's what it was basically just a shell. The third turtle was found halfway between the coastline and sand dunes. It was close to being in the same  state of decay as this one pictured. Again, I'm not sure why or how they ended up there on the beach.
