Ecluse des Mazelles. La maison éclusière. 

Le barrage des Mazelles est construit en 1839 sous la direction de l'ingénieur Camille Bailloud. En 1902, le déversoir fixe est reconstruit par l'entrepreneur Alphonse Bodin. 
Le Cher canalisé au deuxième quart du XIXe siècle, long d'une soixantaine de kilomètres, comportait  16 barrages éclusés : Saint-Aignan, La Méchinière, Talufiau, Thésée (ou Mazelles) , Angé, Bourré, Montrichard, Saint-Georges, Chisseaux, Thoré, Bléré, Vallet, Nitray, Roujoux, Larçay, Rochepinard. 

Les barrages permettaient de surélever l'eau pour permettre la navigation en dehors des périodes de hautes eaux. Le Cher canalisé reliait le canal de Berry à la Loire.

La maison éclusière se composait de deux logements séparés par un porche central et d'un four à pain. Un logement était réservé pour l'éclusier, l'autre pour le barragiste.  

Le Cher possède les plus belles maisons éclusières de France.
