Orchy Autumn (Wide) - a photo on Flickriver

            Another solo trip yesterday.  Based on a favourable forecast I decided to make for Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe with a view of capturing a sunset there.  The 3  hour plus journey took me through Glencoe where I expected to stop and take my first images but the poor light and strong breeze had me drive straight through.  I decided to take the 'B' road through Glen Orchy rather than stick to the main road and found the River Orchy running fast through the glen; It was certainly a favourite spot for 'paddlers' based on the amount I passed with many of the parking spaces filled.  However, I eventually managed to find a suitable 'canoe free' spot and spent a pleasing hour or so capturing the autumn colour and power of the river. Finding a safe shooting position was tricky as the rocks were very slick (I had a bit of an 'experience' on slippy rocks later on but that's another tale) and wanting to capture this interesting erosion feature here meant a compositional compromise.  For that reason I have chosen to post both landscape and portrait variants which have their own plus and minus points.
