…” What can I do?”, he repeats as he lifts up her chin to lead her eyes back to his looking at her with loving but worried eyes…

Slowly she opened her tear-filled eyes and looked up at him. Red her cheeks and lips. "I am. I am yours"! she answered in a soft voice.

A moment of silence filled the room as he gently brushed the tears from her cheek …"go to bed now my little darling, tomorrow there is a lot to do, and don't worry" he said with an unfamiliar melancholy in his voice that she had never heard before, neither he seemed to be angry...

She wanted to say something but thought it might be better to stay silent. "Yes, M´lord" were her only words, as she left the room with a worried feeling and bowed eyes.

And while she left, she looked back at him once more, but didn't dare to say anything. Instead, she stood in front of the door for a moment, her back gently resting against it, and watched him worried through a small crack in the door, which she hadn't completely closed…

He stood still for a moment until he slowly turned to the fireplace and his eyes fell on the opened letters that he had read before. He took them off the mantelpiece, sat down in his large chair and sighed…

"Things will have to change," he said quietly to himself as he repeated the words of the letter...

- “… I now need to ask you my old friend to stand by my side in this urgent matter …the situation down here is coming to a head and we urgently need support and good, capable men to prevent the worst…” was all she could hear before he became silent again starring back at the fire… -

Quietly and with a queasy feeling she silently walks up the stairs until she reached the Master bedroom where she opens the door and took seat on the edge of the bed. She grabbed the blanket, wrapped herself in it and walked over to the window through which the moon shone brightly.

If she ever lost him, she thought to herself, she didn't know what to do ... It can't happen, ever! she continued to think while looking at the forest enveloped by the moonlight...

Tomorrow was a new day and there were many things to prepare for the picnic she was going to have with her friends and sisters. He always loved to see her happy and he always give her permission to have her friends and sisters close. He might be strict and insisted that one always obeyed his rules but at the same time he always tried to provide her with everything she and her sisters needed.

She smiled by the very thought of him and went back to bed as he ordered …
