Blue eye of Blesi hot spring - a photo on Flickriver

The Haukadalur geothermal field hosts, in addition to the two famous geysers Strokkur and Great Geysir, many hot springs of breathtaking beauty. This is particularly the case of the Blesi spring, which consists of two hot-water pools with very different colors. One of the basins is colder, and therefore of an intense blue, while the other is almost transparent because the silica responsible for the blue color is almost completely dissolved in the water. Many other springs are present on the site and offer a variety of hues absolutely exceptional.
