old glory | cincinnati, oh - a photo on Flickriver

This is the interior of Union Terminal, in Cincinnati, Ohio (link). It's still used as a train station, but very few trains run through here (maybe 1/day, if memory serves). Most of the building has been repurposed as the Cincinnati Museum Center. I hadn't really expected to see anything spectacular on the interior, since on approach the Art Deco exterior looked very gray and uninteresting. On the inside, though, was this cavernous half dome with these really interesting concentric circle patterns -- really a bit dizzying, especially through the viewfinder. This HDR is made from five exposures. I had to do some perspective correction because the lens I used to take this (NOT my Nikon 14-24) suffers from a lot of angular distortion at its shortest focal lengths. I decided to process this as monochrome because -- to be honest -- I didn't care for the orange/yellow colors of the actual interior. They reminded me of everything I don't like about 1970's decor. Burnt orange and mustard? What were we thinking?! Anyway, here's my b&w version.
