If you have been following my Flickr photostream, you probably might have seen this gorgeous tree from White Sands National Park. I only looked up details about the park couple of days before the trip, and the one piece of advice that stuck with me was from another photog about finding the rare trees in the dunes. So, I took his advice and started looking. I didn’t like the first couple of trees, but this one was perfect. Unfortunately, we missed fall by a few weeks, but this tree still had its leaves and had faded but still beautiful yellow colors. The fun part was observing the tree in all lighting conditions. We had a faint sunset, sunrise, overcast light, and storm clouds on the last day. It truly opened my eye to how much the conditions and weather control how an image turns out and why it's essential to return to a location if you get a chance.
