Trans Am by Night - a photo on Flickriver

Trans Am by Night

            For the Boot Camp II competition IV.

Strobist info: 24mm manual focus Nikkor lens on Nikon D80. SB600 on low tripod at back camera right at low power zoomed to 70mm and strafing slightly up. SB26 in slave mode on tall ladder directly in front of car. SB26 also zoomed to 70mm and about twice the power of the SB600. D80 set for a long exposure (13 seconds) at f11 at ISO 400.

Car info: Pontiac Trans Am 1971 with original 455HO engine. It's my daily driver here in Doha. Parking lights were on for colour and interest.

Weather info: Weather here at shooting time was about 100F and probably close to 80% humidity. Believe it or not the sky colour is pretty much correct. Lots of humidity dust and haze here and lots of city lights.

Trivia: I also took a version of this with my Mamiya M645 film camera. Sadly, that photo will not make the deadline as the film is still in the camera.

NOTE: Uploaded a slightly tighter crop. Looking at the photo for a day has made me intensely aware of some glaring dead space.
