València, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía

            Von der Seite gesehen präsentiert sich das Opern- und Kulturhaus von València, der Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (deutsch: Königin-Sofia-Palast der Künste) dem Besucher mit dieser futuristischen Perspektive, die mich an einen grossen Meeressäuger erinnerte, der sich mit Wucht aus dem Wasser katapultieren will. Auch dieser nächtliche Eindruck von der Stadt der Künste und Wissenschaften war sehr interessant und faszinierte mich maßlos. Das vom spanischen Architekten Santiago Calatrava entworfene Gebäude wurde im Oktober 2005 eröffnet. Es ist vom umbauten Volumen her das größte Opernhaus der Welt und bietet in vier verschiedenen Sälen bzw. Auditorien jeweils zwischen 400 und 1500 Gästen Platz.

Seen from the side, València's opera and cultural centre, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Queen Sofia Palace of the Arts), presents itself to the visitor with this futuristic perspective that reminded me of a large marine mammal trying to catapult itself out of the water with force. This nightly impression of the City of Arts and Sciences was also very interesting and fascinated me immensely. The building, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, was opened in October 2005. In terms of volume, it is the largest opera house in the world and can accommodate between 400 and 1500 guests in each of the four different halls or auditoriums.
