Big Step - a photo on Flickriver

Big Step

            Recently I went to Panama Canal. The first part of the visit consisted of crossing from the East Side of Pedro Miguel Locks to the centre section. We had to cross via the Lock's Gate.

At one moment I had to cross a gap between both gates and for a second I stopped frozen in panic (I'm used to being at heights, even when I fly aircrafts with big windows I'm quite used to see down below with no issues at all, but for some reason I panic a little bit if I know for certain that I might fall). I crossed it with no issues after another second passed.

Later, when we were finishing our tour, we crossed from the West section to the East section via a bigger bridge at the lower side of Pedro Miguel Locks and I saw this guy cross the very same gap I crossed a few hours ago, now this time, with the gates a little bit open.

It seemed normal for that guy to cross that gap (now bigger than when I crossed it) but to me, even with the gates completely closed, I panicked when I saw a gap between those gates.

Now that I think about it, at first, most things are quite scary but after some time, any big step will look quite normal, isn't it?
